Wales is Not for Sale Pin Badge
According to research by Shelter Cymru, the housing crisis now affects one in every three of us - from our cities to our smallest rural villages.
It’s not a new problem. For decades, communities across Wales have watched local homes snapped up as second homes, holiday lets, or investment properties. Movements like Cymdeithas yr Iaith have been calling for a Welsh Property Act for years, warning what would happen if nothing changed.
And now the consequences are impossible to ignore.
Schools are closing. Young families are pushed out. Whole villages in Welsh-speaking heartlands stand dark for most of the year - places that were once alive with language, culture, and community now reduced to Instagram backdrops and occasional weekend retreats.
It’s a story repeated in Cornwall, the Highlands, parts of Ireland, and Brittany too: when houses become assets instead of homes, communities die on their feet.
Empty houses kill communities. It’s as simple - and brutal - as that.
This pin badge is a small, defiant way of saying what so many of us feel:
Wales is not for sale.
Wear this on your jacket, bag, or wherever people will see it. Let it spark conversations. Let it be a reminder that homes are for living in - not for locking up.
