Yma o Hyd Poster
Everyone knows who Dafydd Iwan is - and most of us have heard his iconic anthem Yma o Hyd. But if you somehow haven’t… ask your parents. They’ll definitely remember this glorious shot from a special recording of Songs of Praise inside Cardiff Prison around 2004.
Some say Dafydd Iwan is Wales’ answer to Johnny Cash - the original Welsh Bad Boy; a nationalist folk hero who happily sticks two fingers (or, in this case… just the one) up at the establishment and the monarchy. Others like to imagine him crowned Brenin Dafydd of a free Wales someday. But one thing’s certain: he’s one of our most recognisable faces… and yes - he's Yma o Hyd.
